The directory
Listed by region. We are not affiliated with any of these gurdwaras, and listing here is not a recommendation of one over another. If you can reach more than one, there is no reason not to register with several.
Because these services are run by volunteers, opening times, fees and requirements change from time to time. We have not listed hours here — each entry links straight through to the gurdwara's own page so you can check the current position before you travel.

Visit bradfordgurdwara.com →The process
Every service is run slightly differently, but most follow broadly the same steps. If you have never registered with one before, this is roughly what to expect.
Most services ask you to register in person at the gurdwara, though the process and what you need to bring varies between them.
You will be asked for the information that appears on the register. Exactly what is recorded differs from one service to another.
Once your details are checked, they are added to the gurdwara register. Registers are generally viewable only by other registered members and their families.
Some services ask you to view the register at the gurdwara, while others circulate match lists to members. Approaches vary considerably.
Where there is interest on both sides, the sevadars usually pass contact details between the two families rather than members contacting each other directly.
From that point the families take the conversation on themselves. Most services will keep you on the register while you continue looking.
Common questions
A register of single Sikhs maintained by a gurdwara, often called a marriage bureau. You register in person with identification and a photograph, your details are added to the register, and volunteers help connect members whose requirements appear to align. Most operate in person rather than online.
There isn't a single central matrimonial register used by all UK gurdwaras. Most gurdwara matrimonial services operate independently, which means you may need to register with individual services separately.
Generally no. Most gurdwara matrimonial services are open to the wider Sikh community rather than only their own sangat, and you do not usually need to attend that gurdwara regularly. Some may ask for proof that you live in the UK. Requirements vary, so it is worth checking with the service directly.
Most are free or ask for a small one-off or annual administrative fee, often between twenty and fifty pounds. They are run by volunteers as seva rather than as commercial services. Fees vary between gurdwaras and change over time, so check directly.
Typically a completed application form, photographic identification such as a passport or driving licence, and a recent photograph. Some services also ask for proof of address or a small registration fee. Requirements differ between gurdwaras, so it is worth checking before you travel.
Yes. Gurdwara marriage bureaus generally accept divorced and widowed applicants. Practices vary between gurdwaras, so if it matters to you it is worth asking how many members are in a similar position before registering.
Yes. Each gurdwara maintains its own separate register, so registering with two or three services within reach of you widens the pool. There is no central system and no requirement to choose only one.
